For a long time, and along all the coastal regions of the world, the fisherman has carried out a little-known, difficult job, exposed to bad weather and humidity, to heavy loads and to the dangers of the sea; an activity requiring a lot of courage, with the uncertainty of making a decent living from its catch.

The brand “Café du Vieux Pêcheur” is an old brand of coffee from La Manche (50), in Normandy. Its history began in 1924 in Carteret under the brand “café Chantereyne”.

In 1936, the company moved to Cherbourg and changed the name of the brand to “Café du Vieux Pêcheur”; it illustrated its packages with the reproduction of a painting of an old fisherman posing in the port of Cherbourg.

From then on, the brand developed strongly and established itself in grocery stores, supermarkets, bars and restaurants in the region.

It has a capital of recognition and sympathy throughout the region and is known for its excellent coffees.

The brand stopped at the beginning of the 2000s, and was relaunched in 2020 by MAPALGA which then decided to transform the range and the visual identity, while retaining its original spirit and perpetuating the know-how and quality of its products.
