What is ECO CAPSULE?
THE ECO CAPSULE is an empty capsule to fill with the ground coffee of your choice ( see on www.mapalga.fr ), single-use, 100% biodegradable and compostable. Once used, it can be thrown away with green waste intended for industrial compost. Note that coffee is a very good soil conditioner.
How does it work?
You fill your capsule with ground coffee (EXPRESSO grind of your choice). Once the capsule is full, clean the edges. Finally, close your capsule using the self-adhesive lid provided in the box.

What are the advantages of the ECO CAPSULE?
THE ECO CAPSULE is 100% biodegradable and compostable. By choosing this product you are helping to preserve the environment: the ECO CAPSULE is made entirely from renewable resources (corn cereals).
How fine should the grind be?
You should favor an ESPRESSO type grind. This grind is slightly coarser than a classic grind for filter coffee and provides optimal visual (foam) and taste results.
How long does it take to prepare the ECO CAPSULE?
In less than 30 seconds and 3 gestures your capsule is ready.
Can I prepare my capsules in advance?
You can prepare your capsules in advance and store them in an airtight container to limit oxidation of the coffee. We recommend using them within a week to fully preserve the olfactory and taste qualities of the coffee.
How many capsules can you make with 250 grams of coffee?
Around 5 to 5.5 grams of coffee per capsule, therefore around 45 to 50 capsules for 250 grams of coffee.
Is the ECO CAPSULE compatible with the Nespresso® Pixie, the new Maestria and the new Nespresso® U machines?
The capsules are compatible with the range of Nespresso® machines Inisia, U, Pixie, Citiz, Lattissima, Maestria, Kitchenaid,manufactured since 2010.
What to do if the capsule does not fall?
Just pry with the tip of a round-tipped knife. To avoid this type of problem, remember to eject the capsule as soon as the coffee has been poured. Avoid leaving the capsule closed in the machine cage.
What should I do after using the capsules?
Once used, do not hesitate to throw the capsule into your green waste bin (plants, grass clippings, etc.) or into your household waste bin.
THE CAPSULE IS COMPOSTABLE AND DEGRADES IN LESS THAN 2 MONTHS IN INDUSTRIAL COMPOST.
Where is the ECO CAPSULE made?
The ECO CAPSULE is designed and manufactured by VEGEPLAST, a French specialist in eco-design and bioplastic packaging, certified ISO 22000 food safety. VEGEPLAST is based in Tarbes in the South-West of France and the raw materials come from the cereal industry in South-West France. The ECO CAPSULE is a capsule entirely made in France.
Does the capsule contain Bisphenol A?
No
Can you put your ECO CAPSULE in the green waste bin?
Yes, this is even recommended because the capsule will degrade in less than two months in industrial compost.
Can you make a long coffee with these capsules?
Yes, the machines have two buttons: a short coffee (espresso) 40ml and a long coffee 100ml. Short coffee is strong while long coffee is lighter.
How to make a real Espresso? What duration of flow?
To make an espresso coffee you need quality coffee with an appropriate grind and approximately 5.5 grams of coffee in the capsule (very full and packed capsule). The theoretical flow time for an espresso (40ml) is between 15 and 20 seconds.
How to find ground espresso coffee?
It is best to ask your retailer at the time of purchase. Roasters have grinders that allow coffee to be ground to different degrees of fineness.
